Vaig créixer en un lloc agrari i perifèric que, a poc a poc, va esdevenir impermeable i urbà. 30 anys més tard, vaig començar a furgar entre els rastres de gent que, per altres raons, havien canviat la terra per asfalt. La majoria van marxar fa molts anys de zones rurals cap a grans àrees urbanes per participar en la construcció i transformació de nous territoris industrials. Van participar en el canvi del paisatge i de l’imaginari identitari dels seus fills. Amb el temps, alguns d’ells tornaven a construir en terrenys permeables sobrants, nous llocs agroperifèrics. Aquests llocs són, alhora, memòria, representació i transposició d’una idea de paisatge que porten dins de fa molts anys. També són camps fèrtils per posar en joc la nostra memòria i referents icònics a l’hora d’interpretar-los.

Agroperifèrics és el primer llibre d’una obra doble que comença amb un viatge per aquests paradisos autoconstruïts.

Crecí en un lugar agrario y periférico que, con el tiempo, se volvía impermeable y urbano. 30 años más tarde empecé a husmear entre los rastros de quienes, por otras razones, habían cambiado la tierra por asfalto. En su gran mayoría se marcharon de zonas rurales hacia grandes áreas urbanas para participar en la construcción y transformación de nuevos territorios industriales; participaron en el cambio del paisaje y del imaginario identitario de sus hijos. Con el tiempo, algunos de ellos reconstruirían, en terrenos permeables sobrantes, nuevos lugares agroperiféricos. Esos lugares son a la vez, memoria, representación y transposición de una idea de paisaje que llevan consigo desde muchos años atrás. También son campos fértiles para poner en juego nuestra memoria y referentes icónicos a la hora de interpretarlos.

I grew up in an agricultural place on the city outskirts, which gradually became more impermeable and urban over time. Thirty years later, I started pocking around among the traces of people who, by different reasons, had decided to change their sands by asphalt. Most of these people had moved from rural zones to major urban areas in order to contribuate to the construction and transformation of new industrial territories. They actively participated in changing the landscape and the imaginary bound up in the identity of their children. Over time, some of these people began to return to leftover permeable lands near their new cities, creating new “agro-peripheral” places. These places are simultaneously the memory, representation and transposition of a notion of landscape that they have been carrying with them for many years. They are also fertile ground in which we can bring our memory and influences into play when it comes to interpreting them visually.

Agroperifèrics is the first book in a two-part project that begins with a journey through these self-constructed paradises.
